Atria used to be a thriving country of trade until the attempted murder of a nearby Syatzver, a divine creature, 200 years ago brought ruin to the region. The former capital Ellischester is now barely held together by the tenacity of those who live there, and foreign intervention to prevent a total collapse. The threat of the Syatzver's rage is still present, yet despite this, the descendants of the survivors and new arrivals to the area keep trying to rebuild Ellischester to at least a tolerable state.

Then there is the matter of nearby Brighton, a city formerly famous for their magical institute. More foreigners have recently arrived, showing interest in the ruins and the wider region of Atria. What will become of Brighton and what will become of Atria's future is up to players to influence
